Ingredients of Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers
- You need 1 lb of Quality Italian Sausage.
- It's 3 of Garlic cloves, pressed.
- It's 1 each of Red, Yellow and Green Bell Pepper, cut into vertical strips.
- You need 2 of Sweet Onions, sliced.
- You need 2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive oil.
- Prepare 24 oz of Can of Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano.
- Prepare 3 pinch of Crushed Red Pepper & Oregano.
- It's 1 dash of Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper.
Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers step by step
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Poke each Sausage with a Fork 4-5 times.
- Heat a Duch Oven Pot or a 4 quart pot with Lid that can go in the oven over medium/low heat. Add Sausage and cook them until there nice and brown all over. Remove Sausage from pot and set aside. Sausage will finish cooking in the oven.
- Add Olive oil to pot then Onions. Season with Salt & Sauté until translucent.
- Add Garlic & Diced Tomatoes. Season with Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper.
- Add Crushed Red Pepper, Oregano & All 3 Bell Peppers tossing them around until they're wilted.
- Slice Sausage into Thirds & Add back in pot bring to a boil and Simmer for 10mins then put the pot in the oven.
- Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and peppers are tender about 30-40mins.
- Serve on a plate, Have it with Pasta, Rice or Stuff it in a Sandwich Roll with Cheese! ;).
