Ingredients of Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers

  1. You need 1 lb of Quality Italian Sausage.
  2. It's 3 of Garlic cloves, pressed.
  3. It's 1 each of Red, Yellow and Green Bell Pepper, cut into vertical strips.
  4. You need 2 of Sweet Onions, sliced.
  5. You need 2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive oil.
  6. Prepare 24 oz of Can of Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano.
  7. Prepare 3 pinch of Crushed Red Pepper & Oregano.
  8. It's 1 dash of Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper.

Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers step by step

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Poke each Sausage with a Fork 4-5 times.
  3. Heat a Duch Oven Pot or a 4 quart pot with Lid that can go in the oven over medium/low heat. Add Sausage and cook them until there nice and brown all over. Remove Sausage from pot and set aside. Sausage will finish cooking in the oven.
  4. Add Olive oil to pot then Onions. Season with Salt & Sauté until translucent.
  5. Add Garlic & Diced Tomatoes. Season with Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper.
  6. Add Crushed Red Pepper, Oregano & All 3 Bell Peppers tossing them around until they're wilted.
  7. Slice Sausage into Thirds & Add back in pot bring to a boil and Simmer for 10mins then put the pot in the oven.
  8. Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and peppers are tender about 30-40mins.
  9. Serve on a plate, Have it with Pasta, Rice or Stuff it in a Sandwich Roll with Cheese! ;).
